Hi guys! This is Austvina here! I’ve been out of the loop for a while now thanks to uni and all, but here’s the result of one of the assessments I did recently for Textiles…

I got exhibited!! Here’s me with my two lovely models for the garments at the exhibition opening which was held yesterday at the COFAspace Gallery at the College of Fine Arts on Greens Road, just off Oxford Street in Paddington!

There are two methods of having things posted to you for free.
Method 1 involves putting the address of the person receiving the parcel as the “sender” and don’t put postage stamps on it. This will make the Post Office angry and send the parcel back to the ’sender’, demanding that postage costs be paid.
Method 2 involves shopping with us!
From today until indefinitely, Pinin will be offering free domestic postage for all orders over $75! With Christmas around the corner, and a majority of our catalogue at PRE-RECESSION PRICES, you cannot go wrong with the cheapest prices on our collectibles and complimentary postage.
Simply ensure that there are over $75 dollars worth of products in your shopping cart, and as you check out, select the free shipping option. It’s that simple! So start shopping yay!

Following from the sold out success of the original House of Liu Di Di & Mei Mei series by veggiesomething comes Baby Di Di & Mei Mei and the Shaolin Monk. Like all vinyl art toys, they are produced in limited numbers, the finished quality is excellent, and come in a sturdy black display packaged box for collectibility and display.

Shaolin Monk measures 6″ high and comes with a staff and buddha beads. Attention must be given to the buddha beads; they rock! Baby Di Di & Mei Mei come together and measure 3″ high and are absolutely adorable. Ancient Chinese mythology has never been so cool!
Now available from Pinin.com.au in very limited quantities.

Sydney and Brisbane are experiencing a Gloomy Bear drought. With Christmas around the corner, and with people more hungry for that maul (more) friendly bloody bear than there are of him/her around, Pinin was given a vital mission…

If you love Gloomy Bears but can’t bare to wait for more than a day to get your hands on one, you can now grab them at our nearest partner boutique shops, Munky Bizness (Sydney) and Barcode Workshop (Brisbane & Gold Coast). Each store will be stocking all the latest Gloomy Bears, including the beautiful original bloody Chax Bear (White & Pink), Space Invaders Collaboration (White, Pink & Black) and the Kinky Chax Bear (Various Camo styles). A sneak peek at all of them can be found here.

Less than a week after our quick stop at Brisbane’s Mini-Animania (which was absolutely fun! Check out the review on animenewsnetwork), Pinin was on its last convention trip for the year to Manifest (Melbourne). The ride was pretty bumpy due to the weather, most of us coming down with a bug and the dilemnas of pushing our fuel limit. The Melbourne crowd was absolutely fantastic! The cosplay was something to keep an eye out for (and in some cases, more than just an eye for our staff lulz).

Animania Festival is on this weekend and Pinin will be making its last Sydney stop for the year. Pinin’s anime range has increased by tenfold, some interesting art toys will be making appearances and there will be a chance to pick up a few “red-pen” bargains too. I’m sure a lot of people will agree with me that if you don’t stop by the Pinin stall, you have not really completed your convention experience
Also check our Argent La Rosa playing at Animania on Saturday! They are sure to be a hit! If you are on any of our lists (mailing, facebook or myspace) you would’ve been aware of the secret Argent La Rosa show we held on Tuesday. Videos and photos will be up shortly, and we can absolutely assure you that those who attended can testify that that experience would be hard to match
Boy was it INTENSE.
That is all for now. Pinin has made a lot of internal changes which now makes it easier for me to actually meet as many of you. Please drop by, say hi, don’t be shy and we can share many wonderful experiences together
Ciao!
P.S. Pinin has formally named its tape dispenser Joseph.

Our highly anticipated Gloomy Bear pouches have arrived in-store! One of few products which cross between fashion-ability and playability. I have been walking around George St with a blue one and people are asking me about it! I use it to store my train and coffee money :3
Produced by Taito, measures almost 30cm, good quality soft plush, carabiner hook and pocket zipper to hide coins and lollies. Ideal if going for a new savvy street look with a subtle twist; a bloody bear hanging off your waist!
Pinin has 50 units to spare for this, 10 of each colour (Red, White, Blue, Pink & Black). Pick them up while you can @ our Lumiere shop or online.

Just around the corner, (hopefully!) in time for SMASH:

July 1st 2008, Sydney

Pinin will be holding a small gathering to launch the mimobot® Designer USB flash drives produced by mimoco as part of the Pinin range of stock on Friday July 4, 2008 at 6:00pm. The gathering will be held at the Pinin shopfront located in front of the escalator in the Regent Shopping Centre. The centre is located on George Street between the Greater Union cinema complex and KFC.
Produced in limited editions, mimobot® Designer USB Flash Drives merge the art of the progressive Vinyl Toy movement with the functionality of USB flash memory keys. The result is an experimental platform where multitudes of characters are translated into the portable mimobot form and are coupled with preloaded exclusive digital content.
The tiny two inch mimobots are available in 1GB to 8GB capacities, are high-speed USB2.0, compatible with Mac and Window (enchanced for Vista ReadyBoost) and are preloaded with an assortment of character-related media content such as animation, games, music, wallpapers, screensavers, icons and the mimobot soundByte™ application.
About mimoco:
mimoco is a designer toy studio meets consumer electronics brand based in Boston, Massachusetts. With a mission to bring style and soul to personal tech devices and to inject interactivity into the burgeoning art toy movement, the first fruits of our vision are the delicious and fresh mimobot® Designer USB Flash Drives launched in late 2005.

As some of you may or may not know, Pinin has its own shopfront in the Regent Shopping Centre inside the Lumiere Building on George Street. Our official store opening was last Friday and we celebrated with a small little shindig surrounded by cute things and lots of food, drink and doodling. Yes, that’s right…here’s another photo-intensive post for you all to eat up…
Let’s first show off our little baby:
