Animania Sydney 2009 Roundup Video

September 22nd, 2009

Our friend Jack from Jakd did a great video compilation of what happened down under at Sydney Animania 2009 (Technology Park). Vox pops, cosplay, what’s happening around the show and general funny banter. Look out for that kid who whacks the microphone!

We always get him on board since it’s hard for us to enjoy the show for ourselves and generally speaking, he does a great job at it. Enjoy!

We’ll be making a quick stop in Brisbane this Saturday at Mini-Animania (Holiday Inn). Come by and say hi!

Are you our facebook friend or following us on twitter? You could be missing out on our latest news and hundreds of convention photos, as well as our usual banter.

Pinin is giving away two $50 vouchers to spend with us either online or at a convention. 20 wribs will also be up for grabs to be collected at our stalls at any convention. Simply join us on facebook or twitter!

Winners will be randomly drawn on Friday evening 17th July from our facebook group list and twitter followers list.

So what are you waiting for? :)

Burlesque Cosplay

Only in the States (specifically LA’s Bordello Bar), where you can get cosplayers dressed in your favourite gaming characters and doing more then charging guns, saving princesses and other heroic deeds. I don’t know about you, but I found some of this strangely arousing… interesting I mean.

This year’s SFF program has just been released! Do you have your highlighter’s out? I’m going through the asian films first, mainly because SBS hasn’t screened Police Story in years and I’ve got a hankering for Hong Kong 80s cinema, and the closest fix I have is this. You know, asian films = Jackie Chan.

Anime Feature: The Sky Crawlers

Looks like a lot of eye candy, but nothing else more. If you’re into visual effects and stuff, go nuts man.

Japanese Feature: Still Walking

Still Walking simultaneously reveals a family treading water while paying quiet testimony to their durability in the face of loss. Sounds interesting.

John Woo Feature: Red Cliff

Because John Woo has a genre named after him.

One thing I hate about this film:

DOESNT THIS ANNOY YOU??

DOESNT THIS ANNOY YOU??

Korean Feature: Treeless Mountain

I cried watching this trailer while eating a meat platter and drinking beer.

Taiwanese/ French Feature: Face (Visages)

The picture can probably explain more then I ever will. SFF has classified it as a fantasy.
